Lately it has been feeling quite nice to be getting compliments on my skin. Thank youuuuuu! The road has been long, just like many, finding optimal skin health wasn’t so simple. My health went through massive inflammation, healing, restoring and repairing. This cycle happened multiple times over a 4 year stretch, its a journey and I am still working on it.
When I was in massive inflammation, which came at various times, my routine was longer and more complex. I reached to skincare to help support, diffuse inflammation, and keep my skin as in tact as possible. My body was on fire, and there was only so much skincare could do until it wasn’t.
As inflammation died down, hormones found their new home, the gut was nourished and put back together, and my nervous system rattled along a vibrational pot hole filled road (still working on that element) my skincare routine grew shorter.
Today I am three years into menopause, 4 months into a solid HRT plan, adhesion inflammation is manageable. I am lucky to say I have things fairly dialed in, and am actually feeling healthy for the first time since I was 24.
I still have scarring, pigmentation and a few lingering spots of scar tissue, all of which I am working on with SkinPen treatments. I am still working to regulate my nervous system, and I am finding how to care for my prematurely aging skin.
The key element to finding optimal skin health, is we must look to internal health. It’s not easy, it takes a long time, and can be so costly to do so. But, without finding internal homeostasis, or at least taking the steps to do so, ours and our clients efforts are wasted. Selling or buying a product will lead to skincare that is either going to be ineffective, or it is skincare that takes a pathway of disruption and mutes symptoms. Illness, GI, stress, sleep, environmental exposures, product use, treatments, and on and on.
Our body is a power house of processing, functioning and taking on the world we live in. For deeply healthy skin, we must take an approach that is fully encompassing and be patient with the process. We must look at how our skin functions, and support those processes. Without this approach I do truly believe we will inevitably find dissatisfaction.
By loving our bodies and supporting them, we can find the results that we are wanting. By taking this approach, results will be lasting because they were obtained through true function, and not more disruption.
